TAYLOR, B.C. – The District of Taylor is reminding residents to be water smart during the summer.

Taylor has enacted Taylor bylaw 716, 2006, to conserve water. Stage 1 Water Use Restrictions have been in place since May 1st and will continue until September 30th.

This restriction pertains to lawn watering on properties. The water usage can only be done on odd-numbered days between the hours of 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The bylaw gives the water system enough time to recuperate and prepare for the next water day.

The District of Taylor is reminding residents to adhere to this bylaw so they do not need to enact Stage 2 restrictions, greatly reducing the water use, and Stage 3, which will ban sprinklers altogether.

Watering outside of the time frame can strain the water system that works to serve residents with potable drinking water, and it provides the water for Fire Protection.
