FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Families looking to beat the heat can now stay at the Rotary Spray Park a little longer.

The City of Fort St. John has extended the spray park hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. until further notice.

The city is reminding residents that the North Peace Leisure Pool and Pomeroy Sport Centre are available for anyone looking to cool down during the heat wave.

Fort St. John is on track to beat a high temperature record for the fourth day in a row. The city is expected to get to a high of 39 degrees Celsius Monday, breaking 27.8 degrees set on June 28th in 1950.

Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s forecast is expecting a high of 39 and 40 degrees, respectively.

Environment Canada expects temperatures to begin cooling on Tuesday.

In the meantime, residents are advised to drink a lot of water, find an area to keep cool, wear light clothing, and don’t leave children or pets alone in parked cars.
