VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added two new cases Friday, dropping the active case count to 49.

There are six people in hospital, four of whom are in critical care.

There were no COVID-19 deaths reported Friday, keeping the regional total at 155.

Of the 7,800 total cases in the region, 7,595 have since recovered.

The region gave 3,838 vaccine doses since the last report, moving the total number of doses in the region to 222,463.

British Columbia had 72 new cases Friday, moving the active case count to 1,096.

There are 108 people in hospital, 37 of whom are in critical care.

There were two COVID-19 deaths recorded Friday, moving the provincial total to 1,749.

Out of 147,418 confirmed cases in B.C., 144,554 have since recovered.

There were 51,462 shots given across B.C. since the last report, moving the total number of doses administered to 4,703,549.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has updated its official guidelines for those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

While people are still required to follow local public health restrictions, physical distancing and masks will not be required for fully vaccinated Canadians in the following scenarios:
