FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – North Peace Minor Baseball is offering a summer league, and spots are filling fast.

The summer league is for kids aged 11 to 14-year-olds, and the season will go from July 6th to August 31st. The league will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Basically, I am seeing what the interest is in baseball for the summer months. It would be nice to have it go longer though,” said league president Forrest Liddicoat.

With the 2021 spring season nearing its end, Liddicoat says he’s impressed with the interest in summer ball.

“I am calling it to 30 kids, but after one day of registration, I am half full. I may grow it into an actual summer league, but that depends on numbers.”

It’s not just the same kids that played in the spring, Liddicoat says he’s seeing some new players.

“The nice thing I have noticed so far is half the registrants are new, so growth for next year looks really good.”

Registration for the summer league opened Wednesday and costs $50. Practices and games will be held at the Kin Park Diamonds.
