FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Peace Region has been trailing the rest of the province in vaccination coverage, often 10 percentage points lower than the British Columbia average.

As the North Peace rates remain the lowest in the province, British Columbia Health Minister Adrian Dix and Peace River North MLA Dan Davies will hold a media availability Wednesday on Fort St. John’s COVID-19 immunization efforts.

As of June 14th, Peace River North has vaccinated 47 per cent of its population over 12 with at least one dose. Peace River South has 48 per cent coverage, and Fort Nelson has 51 per cent coverage.

Peace River North has vaccinated 50 per cent of its population over 18 with at least one dose, as has Peace River South. Fort Nelson has vaccinated 55 per cent of its over 18 population.

For the population over 50, the northeast region is much closer to the provincial average.

Peace River North and Peace River South sit at 66 per cent coverage, while Fort Nelson has 68 per cent coverage. The closest region is Kettle Valley with 68 per cent coverage.
