FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The High School Rodeo of B.C.’s Board of Directors has made a special resolution to hold provincial finals this year.
The British Columbia Senior Provincial High School Finals will be held from June 11th to 13th at Alex Fraser Park in Quesnel, B.C.
On April 22nd, the president of the B.C. High School Rodeo Association announced the cancellation of spring events after the province tightened COVID-19 restrictions on gathering.
According to a release Friday, there will be 15 spots available from the North Region and 15 spots from the South Region. If space is available, finalists will be selected down to 18th place.
Athletes who finish 1st to 18th in their event may enter the High School Provincial Finals through the rodeo management site starting May 28th until June 3rd. Call-in entries will be taken from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on June 3rd.
HSR of B.C. is making it clear that there will be strict COVID-19 safety protocols in place, including no spectators allowed.
A full COVID-19 safety plan by Northern Health will be shared prior to the rodeo.
Entry fees are $100, with no administration fee. Stalls are $20 per night with a $40 deposit.
The National High School Finals Rodeo will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska, from July 18th to 24th.
The Canadian High School Finals Rodeo will be held from August 6th to 8th in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
Athletes attending Nationals in Nebraska will not be eligible to compete at Canadians due to mandatory 14-day quarantine protocols for returning from the United States.
