FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – A Pride flag will fly outside City Hall as council proclaims May 30th to June 5th as Pride Week.

The North Peace Pride Society is hosting activities during the week including Glow with Pride on June 2nd in partnership with the city.

Lyle Goldie, society board member, says a vehicle parade is being planned for June 5th.

Canadian LGBTQ2S+ activist Marni Panas will speak on diversity and inclusion at a virtual event hosted by Urban Systems and the society on June 3rd.

The city will also light up the Centennial Park stage in rainbow colours starting on May 31st and rainbow banners will be installed around the Pomeroy Sport Centre.

“The intent of Pride Week is to encourage Fort St. John to be a safe and welcoming place for all sexual orientations and gender identities to attend school, to work, to raise a family, to start a business, to live,” says the city’s proclamation.
