VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 44 new cases since Friday, according to B.C. health officials. On May 21st, the region had 153 active cases.
Since Friday, the province reported 974 new cases, bringing the active case count to 3,953. There have been 142,347 cases recorded since the pandemic was declared.
From May 21st to May 22nd, the province recorded 356 new cases. There were 325 reported from May 22nd to May 23rd and 293 within the last 24 hours.
Of the 292 people in hospital, 96 are in critical care.
The province added 12 COVID-19 deaths since Friday, bringing the total to 1,679.
The province is set to announce its restart plan Tuesday following the circuit breaker restrictions ending.
Details such as regional hospitalizations and deaths weren’t provided in Monday’s update as the BC CDC’s dashboard won’t be updated until Tuesday.
