DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is reminding residents that Highway 2 will be closed in both directions starting next week.
Highway 2 at 8th street in Dawson Creek will be closed in both directions for four days starting Tuesday, May 25th. The closure is for utilities and utility upgrades in preparation for the new bridge construction.
Work is planned between 110th Ave and 106th Ave in advance of construction to replace three culverts with a new four-lane bridge after the Peace flood event in 2016. The Ministry has been working with the City of Dawson Creek during the development of this project schedule and the traffic closures.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and will conclude on Friday, May 28th.
A detour will be in place for residents travelling in that area. Vehicles will be directed around Kin Park from 110th Ave to 13th Street, to 10th Street to 106th Ave. Commercial vehicles will follow the Dangerous Goods Route back to either Highway 2 or 97. No delays are expected on either of the detour routes.
Drivers are reminded to follow all posted speed limits, traffic control devices and flag persons.
