FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Women’s Resource Society outreach store is running out of food as it tries to keep up with the increase in demand.
The outreach store had 1039 residents access food services in April and 865 between May 3rd to 18th.
The organization is asking for donations, including lunch box snacks, Hamburger Helper and Side Kicks. A full list of needs can be viewed in the photo below:
At the end of April, the organization was outside Save-on-Foods looking to top up the outreach store.
With the uptick in people accessing the store throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the non-profit plans to host another food drive outside Save-On on June 1st.
“We’re really hoping to kind of get topped up enough now to last until we start maybe Christmas fundraising,” said Outreach and Housing Coordinator Lisa Jewell on April 30th.
The organization will have a list of items shoppers can go off if they’re looking to donate during their grocery trip.
