VICTORIA, B.C. – The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control released the updated geographic distribution of COVID-19 by local health area.

For the week of May 9th to 15th, Peace River North added 37 new cases, while Peace River South recorded 16 new cases.

The most cases recorded in Peace River North in one week were 81 between December 27th, 2020, and January 2nd, 2021.

The highest one-week total for Peace River South was from April 4th to 10th, where 118 cases were recorded.

Data from the weekly situation report shows the Northern Health Region has decreased the number of cases per 100k population in the last six weeks. The region had a rate of 32 cases per 100,000 population between May 2nd and 8th, down from 120 six weeks ago.

The provincial average between May 2nd to 8th was 72 cases per 100,000 population.
