FORT NELSON, B.C. – Northwestel says services are restored in Fort Nelson after an outage on Wednesday.

The company says a fibre cable was damaged in Northern B.C. where road construction was taking place.

Internet, long-distance phone and television services were down for almost 12 hours in Yukon and parts of Northern B.C.

Long-distance phone services were also impacted in Northwest Territories and Nunavut as a result of the outage.

Technicians restored the connection early Thursday morning and continue to ensure all services are fully restored.

“We thank our customers for their patience over the past hours,” says spokesperson Andrew Anderson.
