DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – The RCMP North District Major Crime Unit is assisting the Dawson Creek RCMP following the discovery of a body Sunday morning.
Police were called to the report of a body found near Highway #2 and Clark Road in Pouce Coupe on Sunday morning around 9 a.m.
“Investigators are working closely with the BC Coroners Service in an effort to determine the identity of the deceased and confirm the cause of death,” says Cpl. Madonna Saunderson in a release.

The death is considered suspicious, and the Major Crimes Unit has taken control of the investigation.
Dawson Creek RCMP is also investigating a vehicle fire that happened just after 5 a.m. on 198 Road in Pouce Coupe, eight kilometres from where police found the body.
“While it is certainly too early to link the vehicle fire with the person’s death, we are alive to the potential link and seeking additional information to timeline the location of the vehicle leading up to the fire being reported. If you saw, or know the whereabouts of a 2002 white Pontiac Grand Am in the Pouce Coupe area between Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 5:15 a.m., we are asking you to call police.”
