VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 27 new cases on Thursday, bringing the active total to 149.

The total case count has increased to 7,277.

The province added 694 new cases Thursday, moving the active case count to 6,802.

Out of 457 people in hospital, 154 are in critical care.

With one COVID-19 related death confirmed Thursday, the total climbs to 1,595.

There have been 133,619 total cases across British Columbia, 125,025 of those have since recovered.

Northern Health announced another COVID-19 school exposure for School District 59.

Dawson Creek Secondary School South Peace Campus had an exposure notice from April 26th to 28th, and again on May 3rd.

With over 1.2 million doses scheduled to arrive in British Columbia in May, the province has ramped up the vaccine rollout.

Starting next week, people aged 40 and older will be able to book their vaccine appointment.

British Columbians must first register through the B.C. Get Vaccinated portal to get a notification when it’s their turn to book an appointment.
