MUNCHO LAKE, B.C – A vehicle rollover near Muncho Lake Wednesday resulted in the death of a woman in her sixties.

Northern Rockies RCMP and Emergency Services responded to the single vehicle collision on Highway 97 near kilometre 735 around 3 p.m. on April 28th.

BC RCMP Traffic Services says a Honda CRV with United States plates drove off the road, rolled and came to a stop on the edge of the Trout River. Witnesses brought the two occupants to safety and attempted life-saving techniques on the female passenger. The male driver received minor injuries.

After further investigation, police found the man and woman, both in their sixties, are United States citizens that were in the process of legally transitioning to their primary residence in Alaska.

BC Highway Patrol in Fort Nelson and the BC Coroners’ Service is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
