VICTORIA, B.C. – The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control released the updated map showing the distribution of COVID-19 by local health area.

For the week of April 18th to 24th, Peace River North recorded 78 new cases. This is the second most cases recorded in a one-week period.

Peace River South recorded 66 cases in the same period.

The most cases recorded in Peace River North in one week were 81 between December 27th, 2020, and January 2nd, 2021.

The highest one-week total for Peace River South was from April 4th to 10th, where 118 cases were recorded.

Dawson Creek was identified as a high-risk community with the highest rate of COVID-19 per 100,000 population, and a targeted vaccine clinic was developed to try and reduce the number of cases.
