SURREY, B.C. – Many homeowners across British Columbia have been making improvements to their property during the pandemic, something that is working out for FortisBC users.
According to a release, FortisBC had a record spike in participation in its energy efficiency programs, especially during January and February, where they processed twice as many Home Renovation Rebate applications.
“We’re really encouraged by this increase in participation in all of our energy savings programs,” said Danielle Wensink, Director, Conservation and Energy Management. “For us, this demonstrates that our customers are taking action to reduce their energy costs, improve home comfort and contribute to the global need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”
The rise in rebate applications seems to be linked to the number of people doing home renovations at home due to restrictions and PHO, according to the company.
For those looking to take advantage of the rebates, FortisBC has released some tips to ensure the rebate is processed ASAP. Apply online for faster processing, and it’s easier to track. Make sure to use a qualified contractor to complete the upgrades, check that the make and model of appliances or equipment is eligible for a rebate, make sure to include invoices and important information and ensure your mailing address is correct.
