FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Julia Haagsman raised $980 for the Forgotten Felines Society as a result of her fundraising efforts for Salvado the tabby.
The medical costs for Salvado, which were approximately $375, will go to Forgotten Felines, and the remaining money will be set aside for future animals surrendered from Hudson’s Hope.
Patricia Budgell of Forgotten Felines Society says that money will go to good use, as they have already accepted a new surrender. Budgell invited Haagsman to name the cat, and she chose Lynx.
Lynx is a young male feral cat who had severe dental issues at intake. He was in a lot of pain due to cracked teeth, which have since been treated.
Budgell says dental care is costly, but “Dr. D” at Gentle Pets generously waived the cost of Lynx’s procedure.
On top of the $980 raised for Forgotten Felines, Haagsman and Budgell donated cat food to the local food bank for distribution.
They also supplied the bylaw officer in Hudson’s Hope with a few months worth of dog and cat essentials like kitty litter, litter boxes, linens, and food.
