DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – Dawson Creek Fire Department responded to a structure fire Wednesday at the old Frontier Fencing building on Highway 97.

According to Fire Chief Marcel Cappelle, the initial call came in at 12:28 p.m. The crew responded with engine four onboard, and another 11 firefighters were later called in to fight the blaze.

Cappelle says the fire started in the back of the building and had spread to the rafters.

The apparatus on-site included an engine, tanker, and rescue vehicle. Crews were on site for approximately an hour and a half and were called back around 5:30 p.m. as smoke was seen coming from another location on the roof.

Capelle says the fire is still under investigation at this time.
