DAWSON CREEK, B.C – The BC Oil and Gas Commission says an Ovintiv pipeline leak that occurred in January near Dawson Creek was due to internal corrosion.
After a BCOGC investigation, Ovintiv identified and implemented changes to their corrosion monitoring and control program for the pipeline.
The commission says the pipeline has been repaired and is being prepared for a return to service.
The pipeline was shut down and depressurized on January 28th after the leak caused a fire 16 kilometres east of Dawson Creek.
The commission says it is monitoring the service resumption of the pipeline.
