DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – Dawson Creek RCMP says a suspect rammed a police vehicle on the evening of April 7th, resulting in an arrest.

Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, RCMP officers were on patrol when a traffic stop was conducted with a vehicle known to be associated with a person believed to have outstanding warrants for his arrest.

According to a release, as officers approached the vehicle, the suspect was identified as the passenger. After being informed he was under arrest and asked to exit the vehicle, the suspect put the vehicle in drive and pressed down on the driver’s foot. As the vehicle started to leave, it crashed into a police vehicle that had just arrived on the scene.

The police vehicle’s damage was extensive, and the officer inside was sent to the hospital with injuries and has returned to operational duties.

Both the driver of the vehicle and the suspect were taken into police custody.
