CHETWYND, B.C – Chetwynd RCMP are looking for witnesses after a semi-tractor trailer was ran off the road in December on Highway 97 South near Hasler Flats.

Officers arrived at the scene of the crash around 9:00 p.m. on December 17th, where the driver was found severely injured due to an explosion caused by the impact.

According to the driver, he drove off the road to avoid a collision with an oncoming semi-truck carrying a wide load.  A witness was able to avoid the trailer without any further issues.

The cost of the damage was estimated to be $270,000.

Chetwynd RCMP is requesting public assistance in possibly identifying the truck driver of the semi-truck transporting the wide load, or if anyone was travelling along the highway at this time, that could provide additional information.
