FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Lido Theatre has found a new way to use its marquee.
Anyone who has passed by the Lido Theatre on 100th Ave recently may have noticed the marquee, which would usually have upcoming events, now has birthday greetings.
According to the Lido owner, Brian Kirschner, it was something to put a smile on people’s faces.

“It just started because there are some individuals that I knew who were having birthdays, and I thought you know what, it’d be kind of cool to put their name up on the marquee and then it went on to the next day,” says Kirschner.
The first birthday went up around March 12th when Kirschner was picking names from those celebrating on Facebook. He mentions he’s gotten a few requests for birthdays and enjoys that people can see their names lit up on a marquee.
Kirschner says there are limited space and letters to use, so any requests are more of a first-come, first-serve basis.
