VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 18 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, dropping the active case count to 300.

There are 33 people in hospital, 11 of whom are in critical care.

The region had no COVID-19 related deaths Wednesday, keeping the total at 128.

In total, 6,312 cases have been confirmed in the Northern Health Region since last spring. Of those, 5,877, or 93 per cent have since recovered.

British Columbia added 997 new cases Wednesday, bringing the active case count up to 8,728.

There are 330 people in hospital, 105 of whom are in critical care.

The province had two COVID-19 related deaths Wednesday, bringing the total to 1,491.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 106,985 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those, 96,626 have recovered.

Northern Health issued multiple COVID-19 school exposure notices Wednesday.

Devereaux Elementary School had a COVID-19 exposure on March 29th. Students and staff who were in attendance should self-monitor for symptoms until April 12th.

Dawson Creek Secondary School had an exposure on March 29th and 31st. Students and staff should monitor for symptoms until April 14th.

École Frank Ross Elementary had a COVID-19 exposure on March 29th. Students and staff should monitor for symptoms until April 12th.
