FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The FSJ literacy Society is teaming up with Becky Belle from Beccalicious Cooking for Literacy in the Kitchen.

The virtual nutritional class will revolve around how to cook nutritious meals, budget cooking, and stretching meals to make more than one.

The first class starts this Sunday, April 11th, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and will take place every Sunday for four weeks, with the last class on May 2nd.

The virtual event is free, and you can sign up through Eventbrite, and those who register will receive a free copy of ‘What’s Cooking Carolyn’ by former resident Carolyn Krauss.

All participants are required to purchase their own ingredients; however, the Literacy Society does have some subsidy available for those that may need it.

The Literacy Society is also doing a virtual young adult book club which begins this month. They were able to take advantage of some case lot sales of books and look to get some teens and young adults registered for a book club. The society will be supplying books for all participants.

On the last Monday of every month, the club will do a zoom call to discuss the book, play games, and discuss their favourite parts and dislikes.

This month the book is ‘Signs Point to Yes’, and the Society already has books picked for the next three months.

Anyone interested can call the Literacy Society at 250-785-2110 or email Taylor Mills at [email protected].
