UPDATE  – Services have been restored according to Shaw

UPDATE – As of 5:30 pm Shaw says the outage could be repaired in the next three to four hours.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Crews have discovered that a fibre optic line has been cut, leaving Shaw customers without internet and TV from Whitecourt to Fort St. John.

Shaw says crews have discovered a third party damaged their fibre optic backbone near Whitecourt. Crews have started to assess the extent of the damage.  There is no estimate on when services will be restored.

The outage started Monday morning. As of 3:30 p.m. Fort St. John time, all Shaw services have been affected for customers from Whitecourt to Fort St. John.
