VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 60 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, raising the active case count to 310.
There are 35 people in hospital, 13 of whom are in ICU beds.
The region confirmed one COVID-19 related death Wednesday, bringing the total to 121.
Since last March, there have been 6,004 confirmed cases in the Northern Health Region. Of those, 5,563 have since recovered.
British Columbia added 1,013 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, the highest one-day reporting of cases since the beginning of the pandemic. The new cases raise the active case total to 7,405.
There are 301 people in hospital, 80 of whom are in ICU beds.
The province confirmed three COVID-19 related deaths Wednesday, bringing the total to 1,458.
Since last March there have been 100,048 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those, 91,066 have recovered.
School District 60 received updated health guidelines from provincial health officials, including mandatory mask use for grades 4 to 12 at all times when indoors.
Mask use will be required within and outside learning groups and on buses, with some exceptions.
According to a release from Indigenous Services Canada, by the end of this week, all Indigenous people 18 and older living on-reserve will have been offered at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. A number of second doses have also been administered.
