FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – The City of Fort St. John has two by-election candidates after the opening day of the nomination period.

Both Jim Lequiere and Tom Whitton have submitted their Candidate Nomination Packages, as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

In January, Councillor Becky Grimsrud provided a letter of resignation from Council. Since this resignation does not fall within the same year as a general local government election, a by-election is required.

Potential candidates have until April 9th at 4 p.m. to submit their Candidate Nomination Package.

The by-election will take place on May 15th at the Pomeroy Sport Centre. Advanced voting is expected to take place on May 5th and May 12th.

More information can be found on the City’s website.
