FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations will soon open up to anyone 70 years-of-age and older in Northern Health communities due to the vaccine rollout moving at an accelerated pace.
Immunizations will be available to those 18 years of age and older in some communities “due to population size, remoteness, and/or accessibility – and these can be expanded to address outbreaks, clusters or high population incidence rates”.
“The Northern Health call centre to book COVID-19 appointments, based on age range and local eligibility, continues to operate 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. PST, seven days a week, and clinic dates and locations will be confirmed at the time of booking,” says a Northern Health release Saturday.
Appointment eligibility is currently open to 80 years of age and over and Indigenous people 65 and older. However, it may vary in some communities.
On Saturday, the Fort St. John specific Northern Health Facebook page invited residents aged 70 and older and Indigenous residents 55 and older to phone the call centre to receive a vaccine dose. This is a special case to fill open appointments during Phase 2 of the provincial vaccine rollout. It is open for Hudon’s Hope resident as well.
