PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – The Chief Executive Officer at Northern Development has been recognized by the BC Economic Development Association (BCEDA).
The BCEDA teamed up with Fortis BC for the 2021 BC Economic Development Awards, held virtually on March 11th. The awards are given to individuals and groups who dedicate time to community-based economic development.
Joel McKay, CEO at Northern Development (NDI), has received the Chairman’s Award from the BCEDA. The award is presented annually to recognize a member of the BCEDA who has made significant contributions in the economic development field.
McKay joined NDI in 2012 as Director of Communications and went into the CEO field in October 2016.
NDI provides the regions with a First Nations Government and Local Government intern. The program offers paid internships for graduates, which allows them to spend a year living and working in Northern BC. During the early months of the pandemic, NDI adapted their program to include interior renovations to accommodate for provincial health guidelines, like physical distancing, in businesses.
