VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 46 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, raising the active case count to 269.
There are 22 people in hospital, 13 of whom are in Intensive Care.
There were no COVID-19 related deaths in the region, keeping the total at 109.
In total, 4,739 cases have been confirmed, and 4,347 have recovered.
The province added 564 new cases Thursday, raising the active case total to 4,743.
There are 248 people in hospital, 64 of whom are in Intensive Care.
British Columbia recorded four COVID-19 related deaths Thursday, bringing the total to 1,376.
The province has confirmed 82,473 cases and 76,289 recoveries since last spring.
The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control released the weekly case distribution map for the week of February 21st to 27th.
Peace River North had 22 cases, while Peace River South had 33 cases.
Canada is mere days away from approving a fourth COVID-19 vaccine, raising the possibility that Canadians will get vaccinated sooner.
The Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine is said to have an 85 per cent effectiveness at preventing infection. All other vaccines require two shots.
According to Marc Berthiaume, director of the bureau of medical science at Health Canada, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should be available in the next few days.
