UPDATE: The PRRD says the opening has been delayed due to unforeseen technical problems.
ROSE PRAIRIE, B.C. – The Rose Prairie water station was supposed to open up Monday.
The Peace River Regional District released a statement Friday stating the Rose Prairie Water Station will open at 9 a.m. on February 22nd.
“A granular activated carbon filter has been installed that has passed all of the potable water testing required by Northern Health and meets Canadian standards for drinking water,” says the statement.
In 2019, Sulphides were discovered in the water supply during the commissioning of the Rose Prarie Water Station. Additional treatments were installed to decrease the measurable turbidity, which is the cloudiness of the water.
The bulk water fill and bottle water fill stations will offer free water until March 24th. Users can access free water by entering their personal access codes and pins.
The PRRD uses coarse filters, nanofiltration, chlorine disinfection, and cartridge filters to reduce the turbidity of the water supply.
