TAYLOR, B.C – A couple of firefighters gained some hardware this week as Taylor Fire Rescue honoured their 2020 achievements.

The 2020 Fire Fighter of the Year went to firefighter Will Morgan, and Lieutenant Kristine Doerksen received the department’s 2020 Community Champion award. They were both chosen by thier peers.

The Highest Attendance for Incidents award, at 59 per cent, went to Lieutenant Brent Taillefer.

Junior firefighter Ethan Byford was awarded for having the Highest Attendance for Training, at 94 per cent.

Currently, TFR consists of a Fire Chief, a Deputy Fire Chief, three volunteer captains, three lieutenants, and twelve firefighters.

The department is recruiting volunteers in the area for those who are interested.

The Fire and Rescue Service also have the Junior Firefighter Program for young men and women, ages 14 to 18, looking to become active firefighters.
