VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region recorded 131 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, bringing the active case count to 411. From Sunday to Monday, 34 new cases were reported.
There are 14 people in hospital, and 11 in ICU in the region.
Over the weekend, two COVID-19 related deaths were reported, bringing the total to 87.
Out of 3,812 total cases in the Northern Health Region, 3,289 have recovered.
According to a release from SD81 Superintendent Diana Samchuck, a member of the Fort Nelson Secondary School community has tested positive for COVID-19. She said the school district is working with Northern Health Authority to understand if there is any additional risk to other members of the school community. More information will be communicated as it becomes available.
An outbreak has been reported at the Medical Inpatient Unit at Dawson Creek & District Hospital. At the time of declaration, 9 patients have tested positive for COVID-19.
Across the province, 1,236 cases were recorded over the weekend. There were 428 new cases between Friday to Saturday, 465 new cases from Saturday to Sunday, and 343 new cases from Sunday to Monday.
There are 234 people in hospital, and 69 in ICU beds in British Columbia.
There were 13 COVID-19 related deaths over the weekend, and a total of 1,259 deaths in the province since last spring.
Since last March, there have been 70,952 cases of COVID-19 across British Columbia, and 65,605 have made a recovery.
