FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A proposed expansion for the ABC Medical Clinic downtown aims to make room for an additional health care practitioner.

The expansion requires a Development Variance Permit application through the City of Fort St. John to continue.

The City is requesting the public’s input on the proposed application at the Feb. 22nd council meeting. Since the community cannot enter the council chambers, anyone looking to comment on the application can email legislativeservices@fortstjohn.ca or send a letter to City Hall.

Council will make a decision to approve or deny the application or request additional information.

The permit is required if an applicant wants to change a requirement of the Zoning Bylaw, Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw, or the Sign Bylaw.

According to Charlene Jackson, Planning Technologist for the City, the property, located at 9842 101 Avenue is classified as C-2 Downtown Core Commercial zone. New development, redevelopment, and additions must follow general requirements and the zone-specific requirements of their specific zone.

ABC Medical Clinic didn’t respond to a request for comment.
