DAWSON CREEK, B.C – South Peace road maintenance crews are reapplying ‘winter abrasive’, such as sand or gravel, on the roads after a dump of snow in the region.

In a series of social media updates on Tuesday, Argo Road Maintenace, a South Peace Contractor, said the region received 5 to 8 cm of snow overnight, which continued throughout Tuesday morning.

The higher amounts of snowfall were reported in the Dawson Creek area.

As of around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, they said they expect another 5 to 10 cm and crews were working on the main highways, breaking off into the side road networks when they could.

Crews reported that with the cold temperatures, wind, & traffic, sand is quickly getting blown off the road.

Anyone driving in the area, the company is recommending drivers plan extra time for their trips, turn tail lights on, leave extra space between vehicles, and adjust driving to conditions.
