VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region announced 55 new cases today, bringing the active Covid-19 case count to 534.

There are 18 people in Intensive Care out of the 46 total in hospital.

No deaths were recorded in the region, so the number of deaths since last March remains at 55.

Out of the 3,109 total cases in the Northern Health Region, 2,499 have made a recovery.

The 7-day moving average has been increasing steadily since November, where the average weekly case count was near 7. Today the 7 day moving average for the Northern Health Region is 49.4.

There were 369 tests completed today, and the region has the highest positivity rate in the province, with 15.8 per cent of tests yielding a positive result.

Today, 377 first doses were given for a total of 5,636, and there were 46 second shots.

In the entire province, 508 new cases were recorded. The active case count is 4,479.

There are 74 people in Intensive care out of 315 active hospitalizations in B.C.

Since March 2019, 1,128 people have died, and 56,455 have recovered.

B.C. recorded a total of 5,665 first doses today for a total of 108,364 first doses.

Of the total 110,566 second doses given so far, 2,202 were recorded today.

In a statement today, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix announced the plan for the vaccine rollout over the next 8 months.
