FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – The Fort St. John Huskies are bringing back their popular 50/50 fundraiser for 2021, and the winnings have doubled.

Board member Michelle McArthur is excited about the increased pot.

“Last year, the winner would walk away with $10 thousand. If we sell out this year, we upped it, so the winner hopefully will walk away with $20 thousand.”

While the lucky winner can spend their half of the money on whatever they want, the funds going to the Huskies will help offset the cost of bus expenses, ice rental, equipment and team meals.

Last season, the engine failed on the team bus, requiring a hefty repair bill of over $50 thousand.

The pandemic has kept the NWJHL on hold since November, but the Huskies are still practicing three days a week.

Huskies GM Jeremy Clothier is optimistic about a return to play this season, but he is extremely happy with the core of players returning for next year.

Of the 25 players on the roster, there are 14 that have been playing together for the past three years. In terms of local content, 20 players are products of Fort St. John.

Tickets cost $10 each, and the draw date is set for March 31. contact Michelle McArthur to purchase tickets, or any Husky player. For more information, go to the Huskies’ Facebook page.
