PRINCE GEORGE, B.C – Crime Stoppers received 99 tips from the Peace Region in 2020.

Northern BC Crime Stoppers, formerly Prince George Crime Stoppers, has started covering the area after the Northeast Crime Stoppers folded in October 2020.

In 2020, Northern BC Crime Stoppers, which serves 30 communities, received 997 tips in total, up from 700 in 2019.

According to the report, the tips resulted in 31 arrests, which is up from 17 in 2019, 10 cases cleared and 11 cash rewards approved.

“The Board of Directors of Northern BC Crime Stoppers would like to thank the citizens of Northern BC for continuing to provide vital information that has led to a record year for tips and arrests in 2020,” says a statement sent out on January 8.

This month, the organization will debut its new logo, new website and a new mascot.

The program plans to host events in some of its northern B.C communities as it continues to roll out its expansion.

Residents are reminded to submit a tip through Northern BC Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or by submitting a tip to the program’s website.
