VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health region reported 173 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend.

As of Sunday morning, 59,902 British Columbians have received the first dose of the vaccine for COVID. The Province has received 71,200 doses to date. Since Friday, there were 22 new deaths in B.C., bringing the total number of people to pass away from COVID-19 to 1,010.

The B.C. Liberals are calling on the Province to start giving more detailed reporting of COVID-19 data, including daily updates on vaccinations by health authorities and detailed case breakdowns for schools, long-term care homes, and assisted living facilities.

In a letter to the Minister of Health, the Liberals say, local community leaders, parents, and local governments have been asking for more data about COVID-19.

As of Monday, 358 people are in the hospital due to COVID, and 72 people are in intensive care. Active cases have dropped to 5,220, but the Province is currently monitoring over 7,300 people.
