FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – 4,520 housing units are anticipated to be needed, between now and 2040, in order to fulfill a housing stock gap, according to the City of Fort St. John’s Housing Strategy.
City Council will be presented, at the next Council meeting on Monday, with an update on the City’s Housing Strategy.
The Housing Strategy provides information on the current state of housing within the city and provides strategies and recommendations to improve the situation for future housing needs.
Along with building new housing units, the Housing Strategy recommends that the City encourages affordable housing in the downtown and increasing it by 10 percent by 2030.
The Strategy also recommends that the City continues to work with community partners and developers to identify opportunities for affordable housing in Fort St. John.
