VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region has 49 new cases of COVID-19, as of Friday afternoon, bringing the number of active cases to 438.
When looking at hospitalizations in Northern Health, 42 are in hospital, with 20 of those in ICU.
The total number of confirmed cases in the Northern Health Region now stands at 2,387.
The Region’s death count is now up to 37, up from 32 as reported on Thursday.
1,904 people to have contracted the virus, in the Northern Health Region, have since recovered.
As for provincial numbers, 617 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed, bringing the total to 56,632.
Active cases across the province stand at 6,118, and 48,205 have since recovered from the virus.
Hospitalizations in B.C. are at 358, with 75 of those in ICU.
The province’s death count now sits at 988.
8,755 people are currently under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.
As new COVID-19 cases continue to emerge in communities throughout the province, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says we must all recommit to our efforts to slow down transmission.
“We can only do this through our collective commitment to stay local, only spend time with our immediate household outside of work or school, to respect one another by giving others the space to stay safe, and ensuring we are wearing our masks in all indoor, public spaces.”
