FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John RCMP report that it was a quiet New Years’ Eve with limited COVID-19 infraction reports.

According to RCMP Constable Chad Neustaeter, they had four reports of potential Public Health Order infractions on New Year’s Eve.

Neustaeter says one small house party was located by Police, where participants were verbally warned about the potential of being fined and they disbanded with cooperation. No violation tickets were issued in this incident.

As for other communities in the Peace Region, RCMP say a similar incident occurred in Dawson Creek with only a warning being issued.

Since November 19, all events and social gatherings are suspended, by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry’s orders, to significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission related to social interactions and travel, and remains in effect until January 8 at midnight.
