FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – There were reports on a local Facebook group of a bear sighting at the dog park in Fort St. John on Wednesday night.

In a post on Facebook, a witness reports, while at the dog park located at 93rd St and 93rd Avenue, they heard a man yelling, warning others in the park to leave because of a bear.

According to Fort St. John RCMP Constable Chad Neustaeter,  they received a report of a possible bear sighting last night at 6:40 p.m. in the area of the dog park.

Neustaeter says frontline officers immediately attended and conducted foot patrols of the entire park area with no sightings of a bear.  Additional vehicle patrols in the area were also negative.

In addition, the Conservation Officer Service has been advised.
