VICTORIA, B.C. – 43 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Thursday, in the Northern Health Region, bringing the number of active cases to 584.

In the Northern Health Region, 38 are in hospital, with 18 of those in ICU.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Northern Health Region now stands at 2,017.

The Region’s death count is now up to 27.

It was reported earlier in the day that Northern Health remains the leading region when it comes to the highest test positivity rate per capita, at 14 percent, compared to other regions across the province.

1,396 people to have contracted the virus, in the Northern Health Region, have since recovered.

According to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, 683 new cases were confirmed across B.C., Thursday, bringing the total to 51,983.

Active cases across the province stand at 7,803, and 42,129 have since recovered from the virus.

Hospitalizations in B.C. are at 374, with 76 of those in ICU.

The province’s death count now sits at 901.

9,364 people are currently under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases but does not include data from Northern Health.
