FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Peace Liard Regional Arts Council has announced a new online archive in memory of Sue Popesku.

According to Donna Kane of the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council, Popesku kept everything related to Northeast B.C’s arts culture and heritage. In fact, she was in possession of around 50 boxes that will be scanned and uploaded to the online database.

Kane said that the online database was funded via a grant from the BC Arts Council. The Peace Liard Regional Arts Council wanted to do a legacy project, and that’s how the Sue Popesku Memorial Archives came about.

Along with archives collected by Popesku, other art organizations within Northeast BC, as well as Treaty 8 groups, can also contribute to the database.

The database will also be in partnership with the Fort St. John North Peace Museum and will be a permanent collection, and new material will be added to it.

Kane is hoping the database will be up and running by Fall 2021.
