CHETWYND, B.C. – Northern Health has announced that the X-ray department at Chetwynd General Hospital has recently completed some significant upgrades.

According to Northern Health, the X-ray rooms have been completely renovated with the addition of a new patient change room area, storage space for the new portable X-ray machine, new electrical systems, and re-designed office space.

The department also has a brand new, digital X-ray machine as well as a new portable machine that can be used to take images in an Emergency.

Northern Health says this nearly $900,000 upgrade will ensure that the hospital diagnostic imaging department is using the most current technology available. The new system will produce higher-quality images more quickly and will allow X-ray techs to perform an expanded array of tests in Chetwynd.

$354,800 of the funding for this project came from the Peace River Regional District.
