FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John RCMP has reported that a prolific property criminal was arrested after being caught in a proactive traffic stop.
On Wednesday, December 16th, at 3:00 am, a frontline RCMP officer was conducting proactive patrols of the Fort St. John area when he noticed a dark coloured car traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of 98th Street and 110th Avenue.
According to RCMP, the officer observed the driver make sudden turns without using their signal light and also failed to stop for stop signs. The officer initiated a traffic stop; however, the driver attempted to evade the officer, only coming to a stop after backing into a residence.
The driver was arrested, and the officer observed what appeared to be stolen items inside the vehicle. The officer also noted the odour of liquor from the driver’s breath and entered into an impaired investigation. After the investigation, it was determined the driver was prohibited from driving Canada wide.
The driver remains in police custody and is waiting to attend court.
