VICTORIA, B.C. – 1,215 of B.C. health-care workers have received the 4,000 initial doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine that arrived earlier this week in the Vancouver Coastal and Fraser Health Regions.

Starting next week, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says weekly vaccine deliveries will happen in other health regions across the province.

Henry says the distribution of the vaccine is a national effort and they will know more about when each health region will receive doses by next week.

According to Henry, 673 new cases were confirmed across B.C., Thursday, bringing the total to 44,776.

Active cases across the province stand at 10,009 and 32,963 have since recovered.

Hospitalizations in B.C. are at 358, with 93 of those in ICU.

The province’s death count now sits at 713.

10,388 people are currently under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.
