FORT NELSON, B.C. – FortisBC has announced that residents of Fort Nelson can expect an increase in the price they pay for natural gas starting in the new year.

Effective January 1, 2021, Fort Nelson residents can see their bill for natural gas rise by $4 per month.

According to FortisBC, its natural gas rates will rise to $2.999 per gigajoule which will amount to an increase of around $44 per year, based on an average consumption of 125 gigajoules per year.

Previously, this past year, natural gas rates were raised in Fort Nelson on January 1 and again on August 1.

FortisBC says it reviews its rates each year and its natural gas commodity-related rates each quarter with the BCUC to make sure that the rates charged to customers appropriately recover the costs of energy and delivering it safely and reliably.
